Two parade routes will reshape city traffic 3-4 Nov

The National Parade Commission published the capital routes for the 3 and 4 November 2026 patriotic desfiles in Panama City, La Prensa and TVN reported. Activities run on two corridors: Casco Antiguo toward Avenida Balboa, and Vía España from Iglesia del Carmen toward the Caja de Ahorros intersection near the Vía Argentina Metro station.

Parade start times are 9:00 a.m. on 3 November and 8:00 a.m. on 4 November on both routes (La Prensa; TVN). Traffic operations begin at 6:00 a.m. both days (La Prensa; TVN).

Route 1: Casco Antiguo to Avenida Balboa

  • Start: Calle 3.ª at Plaza Simón Bolívar in Casco Antiguo (La Prensa; TVN).
  • Path (TVN map summary): along Avenida Eloy Alfaro and Avenida Pablo Arosemena toward the Mercado de Mariscos sector, then Avenida Vasco Núñez de Balboa, ending at Calle 26.
  • La Prensa shorthand: from Calle 3.ª at Plaza Simón Bolívar through to Calle 26 on Avenida Balboa.
  • Traffic notes: closures toward Mercado de Mariscos from the Barraza sector; Cinta Costera 1 reserved for Metrobus during the operation (La Prensa; TVN). TVN adds that the marine stretch of Cinta Costera 3 from Barraza toward Mercado de Mariscos closes in both directions.

Route 2: Vía España

  • Start: around Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Carmen (La Prensa; TVN).
  • End: Caja de Ahorros intersection near the Vía Argentina Metro area (La Prensa; TVN).
  • Bus diversions toward Avenida Simón Bolívar, rejoining Vía España near Iglesia Hosanna (La Prensa; TVN).

Access, security and practical notes

  • Residents in affected areas can keep access to their homes during the operation, authorities said (La Prensa; TVN).
  • National Police planned more than 2,700 officers across both capital routes for the two days (TVN).
  • Health and emergency coverage includes Minsa, Cruz Roja, SUME 911, Sinaproc first-aid posts and fire inspections of food stalls (TVN). Bring water, sun protection and ID contact cards for children if you attend (TVN).
  • School-band lineups differ by day and route (TVN lists dozens of schools and independent bands). For drivers, the actionable facts are the two corridors, the 6:00 a.m. ops start, and the 9:00 / 8:00 a.m. parade starts.

What it means for expats

  • If you live in Casco, Marbella, El Cangrejo, Área Bancaria or along Vía España, plan deliveries, airport runs and school pickups around the 6:00 a.m. closures on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 November.
  • Metro and Metrobus users should expect diversions on Vía España and a Metrobus-only rule on Cinta Costera 1 during the Casco/Balboa operation.
  • Visitors watching the desfiles: pick one route, arrive early, and treat the police and health posts as the official help points. Do not block resident gates.
  • This is the capital route sheet, not the national holiday calendar and not the earlier story on cancelled desfiles in central provinces.
