Banks list November branch closures

Two of Panama's largest banks have published branch-closure calendars for the November Fiestas Patrias week, La Estrella reported on Thursday 29 October 2026. Banco Nacional de Panamá and Banco General both suspend in-person counter service on the main patriotic dates, while online banking, apps and ATMs stay available. The calendars are not identical, so clients should check their own bank before the long weekend (La Estrella 29 Oct).

Banco Nacional de Panamá

  • Branches closed: 3, 4, 5, 10 and 28 November 2026 (La Estrella 29 Oct, citing BNP).
  • Monday 2 November extras: the branch at the Órgano Judicial stays closed; the Registro Público branch closes at 1:00 p.m. (La Estrella).
  • Advice from the bank via La Estrella: finish payments, deposits and in-person errands before those dates.

Banco General

  • Branches and autobancos closed: Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 November 2026, including mall branches (La Estrella 29 Oct, citing Banco General).
  • Alternatives named by the bank: phone line 800-5000 (24 hours), mobile app, online banking, and more than 600 ATMs for cash (La Estrella).

Context, not the same story

  • These are named bank branch schedules. They are not a reprint of the earlier public-offices 2-4 November closure notice or the general Fiestas Patrias days-off calendar.
  • The Superintendencia de Bancos itself suspends work on several November dates under Resolución SBP-ADM-R-2026-00003 (2 Nov Día de los Difuntos; 3, 4, 5 and 10 Nov patriotic holidays, among others), which helps explain why commercial banks traditionally follow a similar pattern, but that resolution governs SBP offices, not every private bank's counter hours (superbancos.gob.pa PDF).
  • Other banks may differ. Confirm with your own institution.

What it means for expats

  • Need cash, a certified cheque, a wire release or a notary-adjacent bank letter before travel or a closing? Do it by Friday 30 October or Saturday morning if your branch is open, and do not count on 3-5 November counters at BNP or Banco General.
  • BNP clients: also note 10 and 28 November, plus the 2 November Órgano Judicial / Registro Público quirks if those are your usual windows.
  • Digital-first clients: apps, online banking and ATMs are the plan. Still move large cash needs early; holiday ATM lines and empty cassettes are real.
  • Residency, mortgage and CSS paperwork that needs a bank stamp: build a buffer before the patriotic cluster.
