Fourth Bridge over the Canal is about 40% done, still targeting 2028

On 31 July 2026, the Ministry of Public Works reported the Fourth Bridge over the Panama Canal at about 40% progress. Work was spread across roughly 27 fronts, with completion still projected for 2028.

Progress percentages and delivery dates are construction milestones, not a guaranteed opening date.

What it means for daily life: This bridge is a major future link between Panama City and Panama Oeste — relevant for commuting, logistics, and property decisions on both sides of the Canal. A 40% figure does not lock in when you will actually drive across it.
