Line 3 near 81%: Canal tunnel almost through toward Albrook

Metro Line 3 is around 81% complete overall, with the Canal tunnel approaching a final breakthrough toward Albrook, TVN reported on 9 September 2026.

Elevated segments are about 87%; underground about 71%. The TBM tunnel is nearly complete toward Albrook, with depths to about 65 m below sea level and viaduct peaks around 35 m. Dynamic tests continue on Ciudad del Futuro–Vista Alegre; Loma Cová station is about 75%. Planners expect around 160,000 daily passengers, with Albrook transfer to Line 1 and Ciudad del Futuro as the Phase 1 terminal.

For Panama Oeste residents and anyone watching traffic or property corridors toward the city, this is the main future mobility link. An earlier “86%” figure referred to yards/workshops (August), not the whole project. Opening years remain source-dependent.
